Bike preformed better than i did, though i lost the idle screw after i dumped the bike on a berm. Wouldn't idle. Luckily the big SOB kicks over easily after the rebuild.

Yamaha IT400 engine rebuild

Opened up the head for the first time. When purchased the owner said that it had rebuilt topend with about 30 hours on it. Kind of surprised to find out that the cylinder was bored .020 over while the piston was .010 over. That would explain the weak compression. As soon as i can get a 86mm piston from Dennis kirk, the barrel will be sent to Mankato for rebore.

In the meantime, i will be tidying up the engine a bit. Amazing what a good scrubbing and ceramic engine paint will do

I remember watching The Great Esape throughout my childhood with my dad. Years later i came back from the Army and bought myself my Triumph and have been riding and building bikes ever since.
